How to check children in and out at the kiosk
What it's for
Once your kiosk is set up, you run it on a tablet at your door so families and staff can check children in and out. This is the day-to-day side of the kiosk.
Where to find it
Open the kiosk on the device itself at /preschool-kiosk (for example, on the tablet you keep at reception).
Step-by-step
1. Register the device (first time only)
- On the tablet, open the kiosk. You'll see Register Device.
- Enter a Device Name (for example, "Front Desk iPad").
- Choose the Location / Branch this kiosk belongs to.
- Tap Start Kiosk Mode. The device is now registered and ready for check-ins.
2. Check children in and out
- Each family or staff member checks in using the method you chose in settings — **QR
Code, PIN Code, or Open Access**.
- If Health Screening is on, the temperature check and any wellness questions run
first. A child over the fever threshold (or reporting symptoms) can be blocked from checking in.
- The header shows a live count of how many children are currently checked in.
3. Review the day's check-ins
Back in Settings → Attendance & Kiosk, the Attendance Audit shows recent events — who checked in or out, when, their temperature, and any symptoms or blocks. Filter it by date range to review a specific day.
Tips & limits
- A device stays registered until you remove it under Registered Kiosk Devices in
settings.
- Kiosk check-ins feed your center's attendance records, so you don't record them
twice.
- Change the check-in method or health rules any time in settings — see *How to set up
the attendance kiosk*.
