How to set up learning frameworks
What it's for
A learning framework is the set of developmental domains and milestones your center measures children against. Choosing the right framework means your development tracking, observations and reports all speak the same language.
Where to find it
Learning Settings (under Learning and Development)
Step-by-step
- Go to Learning Settings and open the Frameworks tab.
- Browse the Available Frameworks. Each card shows the framework's age range,
number of domains and number of milestones.
- Use Preview to see a framework's domains and milestones before you commit.
- Toggle a framework Active to use it in your center. You can keep more than one
active for different age groups.
Tips & limits
- Pick the framework that matches your age groups — some are aimed at toddlers
(e.g. 0–3 years), others at older preschoolers (e.g. 4–6 years).
- The frameworks you make Active drive the domains and milestones everywhere
else in Child Development, so set this up before you start recording observations.
- The Portfolio & Sharing tab controls how portfolios are shared with families.
