How to add a lead
What it's for
When an enquiry comes in — a call, an email, a walk-in — you record it as a lead so it enters your pipeline and nothing falls through the cracks. This article covers adding a lead by hand. (Enquiries submitted through a lead capture form are added for you — see *How to create a lead capture form*.)
Where to find it
Go to Growth → Leads (the Lead Management page) and click Add Lead.
Step-by-step
- Go to Growth → Leads.
- Click Add Lead. A step-by-step form (Add New Lead) opens.
- Work through the steps down the left, filling each section (required fields are marked with
*):- Basic Information — the prospective student's first and last name (required), and optionally date of birth, gender, and branch.
- Contact Information and Contact Preferences — how to reach them.
- Interests & Preferences — what they're interested in (for example a program).
- Lead Source & Status — where the enquiry came from (the Lead Source is required), plus status (defaults to New) and priority (defaults to Medium).
- Additional Information — anything else you want to record.
The Lead Source list includes website, referral, social media, walk-in, event, education fair, lead form, and more — pick the closest match.
- Move through the steps with Next, filling any required fields.
- On the Review Information step, check the details. It confirms the status and priority the lead will be created with.
- Click Add Lead. It appears in your Leads list with a New status.
Tips & limits
- A new lead starts as New — update its status as you follow up (see *How to manage leads and update their status*).
- Recording an accurate source helps you see which channels bring in the most enquiries.
- You don't create a student here — that happens later when you convert the lead (see *How to convert a lead into a student*).
