Understanding booking and enrollment
What it's for
Booking is how a student gets into your classes and sessions. This overview explains the different ways a student can book, how it connects to your catalog, and who can do the booking — so the rest of this section makes sense.
How booking connects to your catalog
Your catalog (programs, packages, fees) defines *what's on offer*. Booking is where a student is actually placed into sessions:
- Prepaid — the family purchases a package (a session pack, membership, etc.), which gives them credits. They then book sessions by redeeming those credits. Buy first, book against it.
- Postpaid — the student books first and is billed afterward (pay-as-you-go). No package is purchased upfront; the program's pricing handles the charge.
The ways to book
When you book a student, you choose a mode:
- Enrollment — enroll a student into a program's classes.
- Trial — a one-off trial session (often free).
- Drop-in — a single pay-per-session booking.
- Package — sell a package now, or redeem credits from a package the student already owns.
- Membership / Subscription — recurring access.
- Makeup — book a makeup for a missed session (uses a makeup credit).
- Reschedule — move an existing booking to a different time.
If a student already holds credits, the booking wizard shows a Use Credits tab to redeem them; otherwise you pick a new purchase mode.
Who can book
- Admins and staff book on a family's behalf using the admin Booking Wizard.
- Parents and adult students book themselves in their portal — parents for their children, adult students for themselves (the flow is the same).
What's in this section
Articles cover each admin booking mode, the parent/adult self-service flow, postpaid billing, waitlists, cancellations and makeup credits, and the booking policies that govern it all. Once a session is booked and happens, you mark attendance — that's covered in the Schedule & Attendance section.
